3 Fall Smoothie Recipes That Boost Immunity

Fall is the time of year when we start to think about building up our immune systems to combat extra germs coming home from school and sports so that as many bugs as possible can be avoided.  Taking a probiotic, eating cultured foods and sticking mainly to a whole foods diet will strengthen your immunity, support digestion and also lay some foundational groundwork for your energy reserves.  Try starting your day with one of these nutrient dense autumn inspired smoothies!

Autumn Greens Smoothie

1 large handful spinach

1 banana

1 pear or apple, chopped

1 cup of coconut water or water

dash of cinnamon

Blend and enjoy!

Pumpkin Pie Smoothie

1/4 cup pumpkin purée

2 soft, pitted Medjool dates

1 banana

1/4 tsp. ground cinnamon

1/4 tsp. ground ginger

pinch ground nutmeg

pinch ground cloves

1 cup almond milk plus extra for topping                                                                                         

Blend and enjoy!

Fall Sunset Smoothie

3 peaches, stones removed

1 banana

1/2 cup almond milk

1 tbsp. lemon juice

1/2 tsp. vanilla extract

2 ice cubes

1 cup frozen raspberries (or strawberries)

Blend all the ingredients together except the berries.  Pour half of the mixture into a glass then blend the remaining half of the mixture with the berries.  Once blended pour over the top of the peach layer.
